At Ghana International School (GIS), we are dedicated to Transforming, Inspiring, and Motivating Educators (TIME). That is what the TIME Educators Conference stands for!

The TIME Educators Conference (TIME Conference for short), was conceived and launched in 2016 by Dr. Mary Ashun, the then Principal of GIS. This conference aims to unite educators and administrators from various schools, both nationally and internationally, to share ideas, engage in dialogue, and foster discussions on all aspects of education. It has become a prominent event on the GIS calendar and is well-attended by educators nationwide each year.

In her inaugural speech, Dr. Ashun aptly captured the essence of TIME as follows:

Our logo says it all. A clock. A ticking hand. A feedback arrow in different colours. The colours of Africa. It is indeed time that we took the time to reflect on our practice, learn from one another and go back to our home schools, transformed. It’s time we acknowledged how worthy our profession is, how critical, how necessary, and how indispensable the teaching profession is to the growth of our nation. And it’s time that all of these came out of Africa… to the world.’

For nearly 10 years, experienced educators and administrators from GIS and beyond have taken the stage to deliver inspiring messages and present engaging seminars and workshops on current issues in education. These presentations have equipped participants with innovative tools, knowledge, best practices in teaching, and valuable networking opportunities aimed at making a positive impact on their students, schools, and communities.

The TIME Conference will continue to push boundaries, address pressing issues, and serve as a hub for new knowledge and innovation in education.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the teaching profession, connecting with other educators, and collectively building a community of learners who are well-prepared to meet the demands of 21st-century education. We are passionate about our work and look forward to sharing it with the world.

It is TIME to Transform, Inspire and Motivate Educators!!

SOCIAL MEDIA - IMPACT AND IMPLICATIONS FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

Two years ago, we could not hold this Conference – mainly because we were all
focused on survival due to the insurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021,
it was organised for GIS Staff ONLY, as we continued to implement, monitor
and review the School’s COVID-19 response plan. It is fulfilling to see this home
grown initiative rebound in its organisation and attract educators/school
administrators from across the country, public and private to share ideas and
develop new perspectives to continually transform their practice. The past
editions of TIME have not only motivated and educated teachers and school
leaders/administrators, but it has also reinforced that Ghana International
School is indeed a centre for educational excellence.

Wellness: Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing In a Robust Academic Environment

Undoubtedly, Educators have an important role to play in shaping future
generations. We believe that academic development and performance are
closely linked with many other aspects of a student’s development that must
be nurtured. We acknowledge the need to educate the whole child; attending
to the cognitive, emotional, mental, physical and social development of
students from widely diverse backgrounds.
