Lower Secondary School

Welcome to the Lower Secondary School!!!

Our beautiful State-of-the-Art Building and its 21st Century spaces allow for a safe and nurturing environment that gives the opportunity to students to grow at their own pace through Differentiated Instruction.

The warmth and friendliness of the Teaching and Supporting Staff are second to none.  We are a great team –  come and be part of the  GIS Family!!!

Student learning and well-being are central to what we do.   We believe our students come first. Every student can succeed with the development of a “Growth Mindset” to become a  Lifelong Learner.

Our diverse cultural backgrounds function as learning opportunities to achieve our school’s treasured Motto, “Understanding of  Each Other”.

We prepare our students to become active participants and leaders in the global world and to make a difference, daring them to be “Extraordinary“.

As always,  please do not hesitate to contact me anytime with any questions or concerns.

Ms. Ida Abbeyquaye

Vice Principal.

Forms 1 – 3 constitute the Lower Secondary School.  Its curriculum is fashioned after the Key Stage 3 English National Curriculum. Adopting the Key Stage 3 curriculum has provided the missing link between the Primary School, which already does Key Stages 1 and 2, and the Upper Secondary School, which does IGCSE (Key Stage 4) and GCE A-Level.

In the Lower Secondary School, there are four streams (P, Q, X and Y)  in each Form ( F1-3 ).  We ensure that we provide the essential needs; both physical and emotional to help students achieve the ultimate goal for enrolling in GIS – acquiring an International education, passing Internal Examinations and preparing for lifelong learning to become citizens of the World.

Curriculum  Overview

The curriculum has a strong academic bias and is geared towards the expectation that all our  students will go on to tertiary institutions. There is a lot of emphasis on homework, essay writing and tests, requiring a great deal of input from students.
