This year Lower Secondary School celebrated its 10th “Leadership Day” Anniversary. Leadership day is a programme designed for Form 2 students at GIS to equip them with exemplary qualities for leadership roles in Form 3. Yearly, the students are encouraged to get involved with the community and give back. This year as the committee began to explore what could be done, GIS was approached by Ms Belinda Bulley Mantse, Headmistress of Mantse Tackie 1 Primary & KG School for help. Committee members of GIS visited the school with the Form 2 -character Ambassadors. The Character Ambassadors interacted with the students there and were given a full tour of the school. They were also able to visit the washrooms and all the classrooms. They interacted with students and asked what they could do to make them happier at school.

The Character Ambassadors returned to school and shared their experiences with their classmates. This was the “Empathy Stage” where they deliberated and decided to bring in gently used school bags, shoes, storybooks and stationery. They also donated cash for toiletries and more stationary as well as History, English and Math Textbooks and GIS Furniture.

The donations were overwhelming. Students along with parents and community members contributed over 13,000 Ghana Cedis. On Thursday 16th March 2023, we were excited to hand over everything we collected to Ms Belinda Bulley Mantse, Headmistress of Mantse Tackie 1 Primary & KG School. A big thank you to everyone who donated towards making today a success and for putting a smile on the faces of these pupils. Let’s continue to show kindness and not look the other way when the opportunity presents itself. #Changeliveswithkindness Ayekoo! #GhaIntSchCares#GIS#kindness#giveaway#giveback#give#Community #communityservice#share#love#donate#impact#change
