Established in 1955 with 38 students, GIS now provides world class international education to 1,400 students, aged 3 to 18 years and representing over 40 nationalities.

Accredited by the Council of International School (CIS), New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC) and a member of Association of International School in Africa (AISA), GIS has won a reputation around the world for providing holistic student development and academic excellence. The Primary curriculum is grounded in the English National Curriculum while Secondary studies lead to Cambridge IGCSE and A-level examinations, with impressive results.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TEACHERS APPLYING TO GIS

EDUCATION:

      • Applicants for teaching positions must have a Bachelor of Education in the relevant subject area from an accredited and recognized University or;
      • A First Degree with a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and/or post-graduate teaching certification (PGCE/PGDE) from an accredited and recognized University.
      • Qualification in Early Childhood Education is essential for Key Stage 1 teaching roles.

EXPERIENCE:

      • A minimum of three (3) years post qualification teaching experience in the relevant subject area at the academic level is required.
      • Experience in teaching the Cambridge IGCSE and A-level curriculum is essential for secondary School roles.
      • Be competent in the use of ICT to deliver engaging lessons.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • A motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to learn and to excel.
      • An innovative and creative approach to providing an outstanding education.
      • The ability to inspire, challenge, support and empower students and colleagues towards excellence.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationships across the school community.
      • Excellent communication in English (written and spoken) and presentation skills.
