Health & Wellness
Ghana International School (GIS) is privileged to have Health and Wellness Centres in both Primary and Secondary Schools which are managed by a fully qualified nursing staff. The nursing staff comprises of three full-time registered nurses and two trained nursing assistants. The staff maintain current professional development certification as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
The nursing staff primarily handle First-Aid cases and make referrals for the more serious medical cases. As part of their responsibilities, the nurses also oversee the dining services, ensuring that the outsourced caterers consistently meet GIS’ rigorous health, hygiene and safety requirements. The nurses also inspect the quality of the food and ensure that students have nutritional options.
The nursing staff are dedicated to providing high quality healthcare services for the GIS Community. This is accomplished through acute and chronic illness management, disease prevention, coordination of regular health screenings, health education, counseling and consultations. Ghana International School is a proud member of the West African Rescue Association (WARA) who provides the school with medical assistance and emergency ambulance service.
