Ghana International School is extremely proud to celebrate the phenomenal achievement of one of our students, Qi Wang, who has made history with her outstanding performance in the recent IGCSE examinations.
Qi Wang achieved an incredible 11 A* grades across a diverse range of subjects, including:
Mathematics and Additional Mathematics;
The three physical sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics);
Three languages (English, Chinese and Spanish);
ICT;
Economics; and
Literature in English.
This remarkable feat is even more inspiring considering that English is not her first language and most students tend to offer 8 or 9 subjects at the IGCSE. Indeed, Qi Wang entered the Primary Section of GIS speaking almost no English. (Congratulations to her ESL teachers!)
Her dedication, resilience, and brilliance reflect the very best of our school’s commitment to nurturing world-class learners who rise to any challenge.
The IGCSE is globally recognised as a very demanding secondary school qualification, requiring both depth and breadth of knowledge, critical thinking, and consistent hard work. To earn multiple As in this rigorous examination is a rare accomplishment—and to achieve 11 A*S, is truly extraordinary!
It is instructive to note that in addition to achieving this outstanding feat, Qi Wang has taken full advantage of the school’s immense co-curricular offerings and has been involved in many activities outside the classroom. She has won Gold medals in the VANDA Science Olympiad and in the Maths Olympiad. She has been a debater, a member of the MUN and a volunteer at several school programmes.
Qi Wang’s success is a shining example of a student who combines self-discipline and an awareness of the opportunities available in GIS to excel. We could not be more proud of you! Congratulations, Qi Wang!
