Pastoral Care at Ghana International School (GIS) forms part of our diverse in-school programming to support students both academically and socially. During the school year, sessions are designed to provide complete care and support for all students.
Tutors are given the responsibility to cater for a number of students in groups of 10-12 while older students act as peer mentors to the younger students. This ensures effective academic monitoring and progress evaluation of students throughout the school year.
In today’s session students were tasked to reflect and share their thoughts on Bill Copeland’s quote “The trouble with not having a goal is that, you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.” Tutors then encouraged them to write down and discuss ways in which they intend to achieve their goals for the year and tackle natural obstacles such as Self-doubt, Friends with different goals, Lack of a vision for the future and Stress.
At the end of the interactive session, Tutors and Students were empowered with effective goal setting strategies and how they could work towards achieving them. It was concluded that nothing worth having comes easy.
