A Team of four (4) educators from GIS, embarked on education support and improvement volunteer project at Henry House School located in Ho, in the Volta Region.

From the  6th to 8th of  April 2022, they facilitated training and capacity-building workshops relating to contemporary school leadership and administration, pedagogical practices and classroom management for teachers, the headmaster, assistant headmasters and administrative staff of the school. The team consisted of Mr. Stanley Ayerson (Student Activities Coordinator/Standards Officer), Mr. Kgomotso Lebakeng (ICT Teacher – Junior School), Mr. Ellis Dzandu (Year 3 Science & Maths Support Teacher) and Mr. Sizi Botsime (Year 5 Class Teacher).

According to the team, this training project, which also aligns with GIS’ strategic goal 4 (i.e. to make an impact in the community through service) is part of a broader commitment to volunteer their expertise, skills and experiences to improve education standards in public and private schools in Ghana and across Africa.

The Team extends a hearty appreciation to the school head and CEO for the opportunity to engage with their teachers, staff and school leaders. It is hoped that this training support will be the first of many that will help transform Henry House’s curriculum development, general school management and administration for improved learner outcomes and well-being. More so, the engagement is ultimately expected to develop the school’s faculty and staff to become trainers of other educators (especially those in public schools) within the Ho Municipality and its catchment area. This, in alignment with the overarching project objective, will help to bridge the quality of the learning gap between public and private schools within the municipality.
