Congratulations to Mrs. Zenabu Akotoh, a seasoned teacher from our PE and Sports Department for coming up with a simple, life-saving technique for lifeguards to prevent drowning.
The simple technique uses plastic gallons and bottles to keep one afloat in water when rescue equipment is not readily available or is too costly.
Mrs. Akotoh who is also the 1st President of the Ghana Life Saving and Diving Association, demonstrated this method at the maiden edition of the World Aquatic Day Celebration, on 2nd September 2018 at the University of Ghana swimming pool.
The event saw many lifeguards, swimmers and personnel from various institutions, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on how to prevent drowning.
We at GIS celebrate you. We say Ayekoo!
