At GIS, part of our educational strategy is to offer students many opportunities to develop lively enquiring minds as well as independent thinking abilities.
Since September 2009, talented students have been identified and encouraged by teachers to participate in both MISE (an academic enrichment program for young people who have a fascination for mathematics; the program is designed to recognize and nurture mathematical talent) and Math Olympiad Programs. Our students have done exceptionally well winning both Junior and Senior competitions and moving on to representing us on the world stage on a number of occasions.

On Saturday 5th May 2018, our Form 2 students participated in the 2018 Mise Junior Tournament, winning a place in the top 3. The competition saw 6 schools participate including GIS. It was an all-around problem-solving challenge. Team-GIS had Saffron Bailes, Kwame Minkah, Asmithaa Kumar and Raiwin Lewis. They gave off their very best.

Congratulations to all our students who participated! A very big thank you to our Math teachers: Mr Tillo (who continues to identify and encourage students to participate in such competitions), Mr Gyamfi and Mr James Sika-Boafo (who were there on the day to support and cheer our students on) and the entire Math Department. Well done Team-GIS! We are super proud of you! #MathMadeFun
