8 Lower 6th Form students of GIS along with 2 Teachers Mr Kwesi Osborne-Morson (ICT Department) and Mr Roland Tei Aryitey (Business and Economics Department ) were invited to the University of Ghana, Legon for a lecture on “Artificial Intelligence and Economic Growth”. The event brought together various students from second-cycle schools, experts, and professionals to discuss the impact of AI on Ghana’s Economy. The event was graced with the presence of distinguished speakers, including Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and Professor Christopher Gordon, who highlighted the importance of embracing AI for Sustainable Economic Growth.
Professor Tshilidzi Marwala delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the transformative potential of AI in various sectors and the need for inclusive policies. Dr. Hilda Opoku provided insights on the intersection of AI and Economic Growth, considering the broader implications beyond prosperity while the German Ambassador, H.E Daniel Krull, talked about the importance of international collaborations for harnessing the benefits of AI in today’s modern world. This led to a lively and interactive Q&A session.
As the event came to a conclusion, Dr. Fatima Denton in her closing remarks expressed her gratitude to the organizers for facilitating such an insightful lecture. She highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue and collaboration.
