Nickname(s): Nana Ah-fi-yuh (idek either), Nae-Nae (only Jesse and Lola call me that, please don’t entertain it), Shorty
Nationality: Ghanaian
Favourite Catchphrase/saying: literally any Vine or TikTok reference that’s stuck in my head
Favourite Class: any class I had in Form 3, Form 5 biology
Favourite Form: Form 3 (the best year, tbh), Form 5 and Lower 6
Favourite staff members: Mr. Anebo, Mr. Ameko
Favourite spot: Common Room, the bleachers, French room
Most embarrassing moment: I’m too cool to be embarrassed
Four words that describe you: enthusiastic, creative, loud, spontaneous
Your GIS experience in one word: Long
Best GIS memories: (you’re gonna have to sit down for this one because you’re in for a ride) every trip in year 6 was a vibe, initiation, lowkey becoming a private investigator in form 1 (sorry mom), form 2 when David, Akwasi, Michelle and I thought we were going to die because we were stuck in the violin room during a HUGE thunderstorm, form 3 geo trip, basically having a buffet table at the back of every form 3 class, bringing my camera to document the weirdness of these people, form 5 bio trip where we almost died, learning for IGs with the crew in the French room (the poor teachers), pretty much anytime in the Common Room, Bio practicals with Khushi and Shambhavi, the bus rides back after MUN conferences, yelling Kendall’s name whenever I see her, Jesse and I learning the choreo to JATP during our free periods or hyping up the Winx Club girls every time they transformed with Abooh, working on Ghana Day for 3 years, working on the yearbook, last day of school UNO, prefect manifestos
Where you think you will be 10 years from now: Hopefully, living in a big city, pursuing something that I am passionate about, writing a best-selling series and winning awards
That one person who inspired you during your time GIS: Shambhavi Verma (don’t know what I’ll do without her)
Best lesson GIS taught you: Understanding of each other
What you want to be remembered for at GIS: Hosting school events, always trying to come up with new ways of breaking tradition, being a source of support for anyone who needed it, “Are you Audrey’s/Daniel’s sister? Wow.” (yes I am)
Greatest achievement while at GIS: Being the first GIS student to compete at the Ghana National Spelling Bee and making it all the way to the semi-finals, being the valedictorian of the class of 2021
Best advice while at GIS and who gave it?: I remember that Mr. Tillo once told me, “Ten minutes early, you’re on time. If you show up on time, you’re late.”
What you will tell your 13-year-old self knowing what you know now: People-pleasing never goes far. Be true to yourself and you will find people who would love you for you. It may take a while, but you’ll find your place.
A song that best describes your entire GIS experience: Cheetah Sisters by the Cheetah Girls
Any last words?: Ghana International School, it’s been a pleasure. There have been so many highs and sooooo many lows but I’m glad that I’ve had you by my side. I wouldn’t be who I am without you (no matter how hard it is to admit 🙂 )Thank you for allowing me to meet the coolest people I have ever met and making them my family, thank you for giving me opportunities I wouldn’t get anywhere else. Never thought I’d be saying this but GOODBYE. It definitely won’t be the last time you’ll hear of me 😉
