Today was an eventful day across all sections of our school. Day 5, the final day of our UN week celebration was a major success.
At the Infant School, a Year 2 UN Day Achievement Awards assembly was held. Pupils made a “We are the World Presentation”, cat-walked in their various national costumes inside their classrooms, stopped to say something about their culture, customs and sampled various dishes from around the world.
The Junior school staff and pupils went on to parade, dancing in their brightly couloured national costumes on the football pitch and within the parameters of their section in celebration of the day.
Our Secondary School, saw MUN delegates put together an interesting Mock assembly where delegates debated on the harmful effects of manufacturing and using plastics in our world today.
Dr. Mary Ashun, Principal of GIS commended students and teachers for working together to ensure that the entire week was an informative learning experience.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for gracing the occasion with her presence, motivating our students to aspire to make a difference, reiterating the harmful effects of plastics on our world and finally joining Dr. Mary Ashun to launch the 2019-2020 GIS GOAL to plant 1000 trees by the end of the academic year!
Thank you to Dr. Ashun, our Vice Principals, Teachers, the Art Department and to everyone who helped to make the entire week a success!Ayekoo GIS!
