At GIS we encourage students through our in-school programmes, to give back to the community. These in-school programmes are part of our Fensere and Shinaa programmes, allowing our students to open a window (fensere) into the world or to walk through a door (shinaa) to effect change.
Each week, our Lower 6th Form students willingly volunteer 35 minutes of their free period, once a week throughout the academic year to spend time with pupils in the Infant School. They dedicate their time as reading buddies and math maestros to their Infant School friends, tutoring them in both English and Math.
Lower 6th Formers use this as an opportunity to connect, interact and impact pupils with their knowledge and skills through effective communication. Allowing and encouraging students to show leadership, responsibility and academic excellence will expose them to an overall rich school experience and a firm foundation for their future as global citizens!
Well done Kafui Gadegbeku (pictured with Infant School reading buddies) and all our Lower 6th Formers! Keep it up!
