On 8th November 2017, members of the Community Service Club – New Horizon, along with the club patron, Mr. Jonathan Kofi Anebo ( a Chemistry Teacher) made a special presentation to pupils of the New Horizon Special School in Cantonments-Accra.
Club members, who are students in Form one to Upper six, donated books to the pupils. The presentation was made on behalf of club members by Shambhavi Verma, a Form 4 student to the pupils and administrators of the New Horizon Special School.
The Community Service Club – New Horizon, is one of the many clubs in Ghana International School (G.I.S.) committed to community support. The Club is devoted to specifically supporting the New Horizon Special School and its students. This is in line with our educational objectives and strategic goal to encourage students’ participation in the community through service.
The objective for the donation was to help pupils improve their reading skills.
On co-curricular club days, students of G.I.S. spend one hour with pupils of New Horizon Special School. At each visit, club members are divided into groups of three or four and assigned to assist pupils of New Horizon Special School in reading, drama, I.C.T, poetry recitals, beading, sewing, art, craft work, dancing and physiotherapy routines.
Ghana International School is constantly seeking ways to make an impact on the community through the involvement of all of its students in community work.
