1. Amphitheatre

Our Amphitheatre is sufficiently spacious and roomy to seat about a hundred and fifty students.  It is used for Literature on Stage Performances, Musical rehearsals and small group literary discussions.

2. Film room

There is a film room in the basement of the resource centre, seating up to 120 and doubling up as a drama/rehearsal room. There is a television, VCR and satellite TV decoder for educational purposes.

3. Swimming Pool

Ghana International School has a  half Olympic-size, 8-lane swimming pool and baby pool situated on the Secondary School campus. Infant and Junior School students receive a timetabled swimming lesson regularly.

4. Sporting facilities

The School has facilities for soccer, hockey, basketball, tennis, volleyball, handball, track and field and swimming events. During regular lessons, these are used for Physical Education and Sports.The School has a modern well-equipped Gymnasium which  offers huge benefits to both students and staff, improving improving health and well-being.

5. Classroom

All classes are fully air conditioned. Interactive whiteboards are fitted in all subject classrooms. Every class has a water dispenser.  However, children are advised to bring enough water to school. Water available in drinking fountains is filtered but not boiled. Children using class dispensers should bring their own labelled cups from home on a daily basis.

Primary School Facilities (Accessible to both Infants and Juniors)

1. Art Room

Spacious and airy, the Art Room is fully equipped with a variety of materials for painting, drawing, crafts and textiles. Potters’ wheels, a laminator and a scanner have also added to the range of equipment. The Art Room is staffed by a full time Art teacher, a part time art teacher and an assistant.

2.Assembly Hall

The Junior School hall is used primarily used for assemblies on Thursdays. It is also used for plays and other school events.

3. Basketball Court

There is a Basketball Court located on the Primary school section.

4. Cafeteria

This excellent state of the art facility provides international dishes for both lunch and snack for Primary School pupils. Food is prepared on site by All Terrain Service (ATS) an international catering company.  All our food service providers undergo annual medical check-ups and are required to maintain good health standards.  The School Nurse also carries out regular inspections of the cafeteria.

6. French Room

The French room enables pupils to gain a degree of immersion in the language, thereby enhancing the learning of French. All French lessons are held in the French room which is located in the year 6 block and has listening stations and a carpeted area as well as audio visual equipment and an interactive whiteboard.

7. Information Technology

The Primary School has 2 computer labs equipped with 33 computers in each lab. Each pupil has access to a computer during lessons. The computer labs have internet access making it easier for pupils to work on various projects. The lab is opened to pupils from 7.45 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

8. Library

The school has a well-stocked purpose built library with almost 20,000 volumes comprising fiction and non-fiction with a strong emphasis on social studies and the sciences. There are also 388 CD-ROMS, 416 videos, 50 audio cassettes, periodicals for both pupils and teachers, and newspapers. The library is fully computerised and connected to the internet.

9. Music Room

There are two music rooms that serve the Infant and Junior Schools. The first music room housed in the original school building has a recording studio, dance auditorium and practice rooms.  All pupils in the Junior School have weekly music lessons.

10. Play Areas

There are designated play areas for Junior School students to play on during their break times.

11. Health & Wellness Center (Sick Bay)

This service is located in the Nursery building.  Two registered nurses and an assistant take care of all the children in the Primary School. The Head of this department also inspects the food handling practices in the cafeteria, is in charge of health and sex education and also arrange health screening programmes for both pupils and staff.

1. Assembly Hall

The Assembly Hall is used for morning assemblies,  plays and musical shows. There is a changing room at the back and curtain installations for drama as well as a sound control booth and professional lights.

2. Canteen

The canteen offers a variety of food and snacks sold by private individuals under the School’s control.Health and Safety is managed through our Health and Wellness department and regular inspections are carried out by the Ghana Standards Board.

3. Computer Laboratories

The school has two computer laboratories (a 3rd is coming up in September 2016)for use by Secondary students, each equipped with 32 networked workstations with  PCs that are fully multi-media. Students are supervised by teachers, technicians and teaching assistants.

4. Language Laboratory

The language laboratory located in the resource centre has a state-of-the-art thirty-booth audio set-up to facilitate the study of French, Spanish and English. A panel attached to the teacher’s table controls both. Students must take care of the equipment and observe the laid down rules strictly.

5. Library

The Secondary library is used for teaching the course on Library Studies as well as serving as a resource center.  The stock of approximately 20,000 books is arranged to facilitate and encourage reading, borrowing and research. As well as books, there is a collection of several hundred videos, audio cassettes and CD-ROMs to support the curriculum. The school also subscribes to over 50 periodicals, foreign and local newspapers. The library is computerised for reference and circulation. There are technology resources available to students to use for research purposes.

6. Music Conservatory

The conservatory has been designed to facilitate group lessons as well as individual lessons. Private rooms are available and our committed teachers keep a number of instruments on hand for practice. The conservatory is  situated on the second floor of the new Lower Secondary School Block.

7. Science Laboratories

There are six science laboratories to enable both Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary students to participate in practical science lessons.  These laboratories (two each for Biology, Chemistry and Physics) are fully equipped and supervised by teachers, technicians and teaching assistants.
